Shirley Marie Whitmire Stewart "Nana", 86, joined many of her loved ones in Heaven on January 29, 2023, including her parents Guy and Marie Whitmire and husbands, Kenneth Ray Stewart and Carl David Stephens.
Shirley was born Sunday, June 7, 1936. She is survived by two daughters, Holly Stewart Hardin (Thomas) and Kelly Allyson Stewart, all of Easley; three grandchildren, Allyson Howell (Bill), Bridget Scott (Charlie), and Stewart Campbell (Lizzie); and six great-grandchildren, Andy and Avery Thompson, Preston Scott, Kerragan and Landon Howell, and Collins Campbell.
She is also survived by two nephews, Ron Whitmire (Susan) and Terry Whitmire (Laurie) and their families; and a cousin (but more like a sister), Dot Case.
Shirley was preceded in death by her brother, Boyce Whitmire (Bonnie); and two special kindred spirits, Clara Livingston and Edna Reid.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2023 at Robinson Memorial Gardens.
Nana loved her family and was always on the move from Ocean Lakes camping to the mountains of North Carolina. She stayed busy in her grandchildren's lives, never missing a special event, eating ice cream with cherries on top, and making many memories.
The family car has been reserved to honor her Lady Bugs. Together, the Lady Bugs have enjoyed traveling, Bible studies, wearing red, thrift stores, and plenty of laughs. Shirley was also active in her Moving Forward support group and looked forward to their many events.
Nana has requested attendees to wear tie-dye or bright colors to her celebration of life.
A special thank you to the caring staff of Hospice of the Foothills.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Moving Forward support group at your local Truist Bank.
