Shirley Watson Sutton, 64, died Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the Cottingham Hospice House. She and her twin sister were born December 8, 1944 in Columbia and were the daughters of Willie and Josephine Blandon Watson. She attended Calhoun Elementary School in Clemson and graduated from Clear View High School as an Honor student in 1963.
She moved to Brooklyn, NY and worked for the Postal Service for over 4 years and later retired from Belleview Hospital where she worked for over 27 years. At Belleview she supervised and managed two clerical billing units, earned three promotions, ten perfect attendance awards and many other job awards.
She was married to the late Billy R. Sutton of LaGrange, NC.
She is survived by a twin sister, Jeannette Watson of Clemson, half-sister Elizabeth Nobel of Columbia; a daughter Anita Armstrong and a granddaughter, Kebra Armstrong, of Brooklyn, NY and two great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and many cousins. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY. After moving back to South Carolina she joined the New Holly Light Baptist Church with Pastor Dr. Curtis Hill.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 2pm in the New Holly Light Church, Rt. 187, Pendleton, SC.
