Shirley Wyatt Witcher, born August 3, 1932, of 1025 Keystone Lane, Clemson, South Carolina, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023.

 

She is survived by her husband Dr. Wesley Witcher. She is also survived by 2 children: Laura Witcher Goldstein (Ron) of Clemson, South Carolina, a son Steve Vincent Witcher (Nancy) of Anderson S. C., four grandchildren: Megan Witcher Wood (Nathan) of Bluffton, Hannah Kelly Goldstein of Northridge, CA, Kathryn Witcher Bolt (Sullivan) of Denver, Colorado, Benjamin Wyatt Goldstein of Clemson, SC, and two great-grandchildren: Caleb Andrew Wood and Logan Elizabeth Wood of Bluffton, S.C.

 

She married Wesley November 19, 1955 at St. Andrews Methodist Church in Mt. Airy, Va.

 

Shirley was the daughter of Acie Wyatt and Annie Dalton Wyatt of Mt. Airy, Va. She was the sister of Juanita Johnson Burnette, Wallace Wyatt (Barbara), and the late Wayne Wyatt of Gretna, Va. She was an aunt to several nieces and nephews of Gretna Va.

 

A graduate of Renan school, she attended Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va. for one year, and then entered Virginia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1953. She worked there for two years before marriage.

 

She and Wesley moved to Clemson in 1957. She later worked at Oconee Hospital Seneca, SC for 10 years, and a doctor’s office in Clemson for an additional 10 years.

Shirley was a longtime member of Clemson Methodist Church.

 

There will be a private graveside service.

 

Contributions can be made to Clemson United Methodist Church, Mt. Zion United Methodist Church of Central, the Cancer Society of South Carolina, or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. 

 

Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
