Smokey Shann Brooks Childress

Mrs. Smokey Shann Brooks Childress, 74, wife of Charles Truman Childress, Sr., passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021.

Born in Greenville County, a daughter of the late James Martin Brooks and the late Margaret Frances Massey Brooks, Mrs. Childress was a retired Seamstress and a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Smokey was an avid gardener and loved to sew, but her greatest love was for her family and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of forty years, are two daughters, Robin Bolding Smith (Kirby), and Shannon Bolding Simmons (Timothy), both of Easley; one brother, James Brooks of Easley; three sisters, Frances Vangie Batson of Woodruff, Virginia Dickert (Robert) of Taylors, and Susan Hamet (Eddie) of Greenville; and five grandchildren, Nathan Smith, Andrew Smith, Kiresten Smith, Christian Simmons and Krysta Simmons. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Childress was predeceased by two brothers, Terry and Jerry Brooks; and one sister, Shirley Baker.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, June 4, 2021 at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, Easley.
