Sonja Crocker Williams, 83, of Greenville, wife of the late Jim Williams, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024. Sonja was born in Anderson to parents Sue Brooks Crocker and Claude Martin Crocker. She worked 28 years for the Richland County school system in Columbia and was Executive Assistant to the Superintendent of Richland District One upon her retirement. In her earlier years, she was known for her beautiful singing voice and vibrant personality. She was a member of the Glee Club in high school and later sang with her first husband Jack at family gatherings. In her spare time, Sonja enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading books. She was known as “Nana” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was a long-time Jehovah’s Witness.
In addition to her late husband and parents, Sonja is preceded in death by granddaughter, Melinda Frye.
She is survived by her sister; Delores Paskon (Gary); brother, Mike Crocker (Carol); daughter, Sherri Cheek Scearce (Donnie); sons, Stephen Bradley “Brad” Cheek (Melissa), Barry Martin Cheek (Elizabeth Pearson), and Jason Lee Cheek; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley, SC 29642.
