Sooky K. Malphrus

Ruth Rosalind (Sooky) Kerns Malphrus, of 500 Downs Loop and widow of Dr. Lewis D. Malphrus, died Friday, February 12, 2010 at the CARC.
Born in Erwin, TN, she was a daughter of the late Jerome Ray and Carrie Callahan Kerns. Mrs. Malphrus was a graduate of Winthrop College, a retired Nutrition Assistant with the Food Science Department at Clemson University, and a member of First Baptist Church, Clemson.
Sooky leaves behind a son, Lewis Daniel Malphrus, Jr. and his wife, Cynthia of Fort Mill, SC; granddaughters, Elizabeth Malphrus Hart of Pendleton and Rebecca Malphrus Miller and husband Josh of Seneca;one grandson, Jonathan Daniel Malphrus of Nashville, TN; great-grandsons, Samuel Woods Miller and Troy Joshua Miller. She also leaves behind brothers Harry D. Kerns of St. Louis, MO and William T. Kerns and his wife Imogene of Mayo, SC; sister, Marilynne Kerns Arwood of Spartanburg; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45, Saturday, February 20 in the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church of Clemson.
Memorial services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, February 20, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Clemson.
