Sophia Jeanette Hemphill Bryant, 86, of 107 W. 7th Avenue, died Saturday, November 17, 2007.
Born in the Manford Cove Community in NC, she was a daughter of the late George and Effie Queen Parker Hemphill. She worked for Swirl and was a member of Geer Baptist Church for 60 years, and taught the Joy Sunday School Class for 25 years.
Surviving are a step-daughter, Virginia McWhorter and husband Charles of Easley; two brothers, Don Hemphill and wife Althala of Rutherford Co., NC, Britt Hemphill and wife Beatrice of Brevard, NC; a sister, Dora Parker Meeks of Reedsburg, WI; three grandchildren, Charles Franklin McWhorter, Jr. and wife Peggy, David Bryan McWhorter and wife Denise, Pamela Dobson, and husband Brian; and eight great-grandchildren, Shannon, Chad, and Jason McWhorter, Katie, Anna, and Luke McWhorter, Emily and Sarah Dobson. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Elbert N. Bryant; a brother, Talmadge Parker; three sisters, Martha Miller, Dorothy Swinky, Betty Smith; and a grandson, Brad McWhorter.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Tuesday at Geer Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Archie Sharpe officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The body is at Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown where the family will receive friends Monday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM and will be placed in the church at 10:00 AM on Tuesday.
The Joy Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Escorts.
Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
The family is at the home of Pamela and Brian Dobson; 222 Selsea Drive; Easley, SC 29642.
