Spencer James Halterman, 26, of Easley, South Carolina, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 7, 2026.
Born on March 11, 2000, in Greenville, South Carolina, he was the son of Tammy Durham Halterman and the late James “Jimmy” Harry Halterman, III. He lived his life with sincerity and a deep devotion to the people he loved, serving as a steadfast presence and a source of comfort to his family. A proud 2019 graduate of Berea High School, Spencer built lasting bonds both in the classroom and on the basketball court. He was known for blending a quiet, humble nature with an unmistakable competitive drive when he played. He carried this same work ethic into his career at Michelin, where he worked as a Tire Building Pilot, earning the respect of his colleagues through his integrity and reliability. Spencer was a lifelong Clemson fan who found genuine joy in orange game days and sharing his passion for Tigers football and basketball with others. Whether at work, on the court, or at home, he preferred the simple pleasures of laughter and unity with those closest to him. His faith was equally central to his life as a dedicated member of Tremont Church of God. Spencer also attended Carolina Heights Church of God of Prophecy when he was younger. He had an extremely special bond with Rev. Dr. Eddie Allen and Rev. Mitchell Looper, whom he always looked up to.
In addition to his mother, Spencer is survived by his maternal grandparents, Billy and Karen Durham; his uncle, Eddie Durham (Sharon); three aunts and their families, Susan Skelton, Nancy Byars, and Michelle Anderson; four cousins, Madison Durham, Justin Durham, Connor Durham, and Gracie Durham; as well as family friend, Mark Merck.
In addition to his father, Spencer is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents., Wayne and Annette Easler, and SGM James Harry Halterman, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 PM until 5:45 PM on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Tremont Church of God. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 PM in the church sanctuary. Burial will be private.
In true Spencer fashion, the family invites everyone to wear their Clemson colors to the service in honor of his favorite team and the love he had for the Tigers. Let’s fill the room with a little orange and purple for Spencer.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Robinson Funeral Home to assist with the cost of services during this unexpected loss. You may do so by calling 864-442-1800. If you wish, you can also contribute directly to Spencer’s mother, Tammy.
