Stephen Scott Looper, 58, beloved husband of Elizabeth Hardin Looper, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.
Born on June 24, 1962, to the late Reverend Lloyd Charles Looper and Estelle Pace Looper, Scott was a faithful servant of the Lord and a member of Forestville Baptist Church. He was blessed with a wonderful voice and loved to sing the old hymns. Although Scott endured frequent health problems as an adult, these didn't dim his faith. Many fondly recall him singing in churches over the years.
Scott was a devoted husband, father and Papa. Next to his God, Scott loved his family, and in turn, he was most dearly loved by them. They were his greatest happiness, and his grandchildren, his pride and joy. Scott will always be revered by his daughter, Lauren Ninan, her husband, Shane, and their children, Judah, Lochlan, and Chaney Beth; by his son, Trey Newman, wife, Jessica, and daughters, Annie Mae and Brighton; and by his son Alex Newman, wife, Kacey and their son, Joseph Kade.
Scott held an Associate of Science from Greenville Technical College, and a Bachelor of Science from Bellevue University. For many years, Scott was Radiology Administrator at Greenville Radiology, P.A., where he was recognized as a stellar leader and led his radiology "family" to a superb level of service to patients. He retired in 2018 from Prisma.
In addition to his immediate family, Scott is survived by his brothers, Danny & Cheryl Looper of Reidsville, NC, Tommy & Virginia Looper of Myrtle Beach, Jimmy & Priscilla Looper of Greenville, and Reverend Billy & Rosemary Looper of Pickens, and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Scott was loved as a son and brother by the late Carl & Bernice Hardin and his Hardin siblings.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 2, from 1:00-2:45pm at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Pickens. The service will follow at 3:00, with Reverend Paul Fleming officiating. Private interment will follow.
Memorials may be made to his ministry, Judah's Heart at www.judahsheart.net, in care of Channel Missions.
