Mr. Steve Brown, 63, of Easley, SC, formerly of Kannapolis, NC, loving husband of Mrs. Nancy Brown, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC.
Steve was born on April 3, 1951 in Iredell County, NC to the late James C. & Margaret Smith Brown he graduated from A.L. Brown High school, earned a bachelor's degree from Wingate College, and graduated from the NC Center for Applied Textile Technology. He proudly served his country in the US Navy as a personnelman. He was a pancreatic cancer survivor of two years, and loved officiating high school basketball games. Employed with Itema America, he was the Chairman of the Southern Division and was on the Board of Governors for the Southern Textile Association. In his free time, Steve loved attending sporting events of "the hood" children. Mr. Brown was a Sunday School Teacher, RA Leader, and Deacon of West Point Baptist Church in Kannapolis, NC, Siloam Baptist Church in Easley, SC and was a current member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church in Easley, SC.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter; Stephanie Brown Jackson (Daniel), of Easley, SC; two granddaughters, Kayla and Megan Jackson, both of Easley, SC; a special aunt, Elizabeth Parks of Kannapolis, NC, and numerous cousins. Mr. Brown is also survived by the many children that he helped to raise and was looked up to as a father figure by.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Braxton Brown.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, 210 Mt. Airy Church Road, Easley, SC 29642, with the Rev. Keith Shorter officiating. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Carolina Memorial Park of Concord ? Kannapolis, 601 Mount Olivet Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Robinson Funeral Home ? Powdersville Road, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley, SC 29642, and from 6:30 until 8:30 on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Lady's Funeral Home, 268 N. Cannon Blvd, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
The family is at the residence.
