Steve Ray Morton, 67, husband of the late Sandra Lee Davenport Morton, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Born on May 14, 1959, in Pickens County, SC, to the late James Morton and the late Martha Black Morton, he was of Baptist faith.
A man marked by quiet strength and a life of dedication, Steve retired as a truck driver from the Reynolds Company after 27 years of committed service. His work was a testament to his reliability and steadfast character, qualities that defined much of his life.
Steve was a man of few words, yet his presence spoke volumes. Known for his love of solitude and reflection, he found solace in peaceful moments away from the clamor of everyday life. An avid fisherman, he cherished the tranquility of being near the water, where he could embrace both patience and the simple joys of nature.
He also had a unique passion for collecting guns and proudly wore his stylish cowboy hats, reflecting a distinct style and appreciation for western style. His collection was a testimony to his interests and a subtle window into the man behind the calm exterior.
Steve's life may have been lived quietly, but it was rich with purpose and passion. Remembered as a man who valued simplicity and integrity, he leaves behind the memory of a humble soul who found contentment in both work and leisure.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
He is survived by sisters, Sharon Nalley (Bill) and Tina Langston (Danny); nieces and nephew, Ashley Nalley, W. Bryan Nalley, Caylyn Langston and Ashton Langston Fisher (Brandon) and his furry companions, "Hound Dog" and "Scooter".
