Bertie Sue Foster Deane, 79, of 104 Sherwood Street, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Born in Dalton, Georgia Mrs. Deane was a daughter of the late Edwin and Bessie White Foster. She was Valedictorian of her high school class, and she graduated with a degree in elementary education from the University of Tennessee. Mrs. Deane received her Masters Degree from Clemson University. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church where she was a former Girls Auxiliary Leader. Mrs. Deane enjoyed playing bridge.
Surviving are her husband, Paul Duane Deane, of the home; three sons, Paul D. Deane, Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Chicago, Robert Edwin Deane of Pawleys Island, SC, and William McKay Deane of the home; one daughter, Diane Deane Finley of Pickens; one sister, Frances Ware and her husband, Terry, of Dalton, GA; five grandchildren, Davis Paul Deane, Carrie Deane, Marsh Deane, Taylor Deane, and Sean Finley; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Monday in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Escort of Honor will be the Cancer Support Group of Rock Springs Baptist Church. Burial will take place on Tuesday at the Deane Family Cemetery in Eidson, Tennessee
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:45 PM to 6:45 PM Monday prior to the service.
