Sybil Marie Traynum Porter, 85, of 712 Williams Street and wife of James Ed Porter, died Sunday, September 29, 2008 at Hospice House of Anderson.

Born in Anderson County, a daughter of the late Walter Rufus and Lucille Elrod Traynum, she was a retired Payroll secretary with J.P. Stevens. She was a member of LaFrance First Baptist Church but was longtime member and Sunday School Secretary at Corinth No. 2 Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are one son, Larry Porter and wife, Connie, of Cornelia, GA; one daughter, Betty Milam and husband, Ed, of Athens, GA; two brothers, Martin Traynum and Norman Traynum both of Pendleton; three grandchildren, Nathan Porter and wife, Noelle, Natalie Etheridge and huband, Scott, and Cassie Nunn and husband, Matthew; three great-grandchildren, Samantha Nunn, Abigail Nunn and Bennett Etheridge.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Rufus Traynum, Carl Traynum and Wallace Traynum; and two sisters, Sara Whitlock and Janet Barnes.

Funeral Services will be 2 PM, Tuesday in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home with burial to follow in Bishop Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 PM, Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family is at the home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to LaFrance First Baptist Church or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
