Sylvia Whitmire Cantrell, 58, of 114 Carolyn Road and wife of Jerry C. Cantrell, died Sunday, February 25, 2007 at her home.
Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Clyde Crawford and Essie Frances Porter Whitmire.
She was a graduate of Pickens High School and retired after 30 years of working as secretary at East End Elementary School. She was an active member of Glenwood Wesleyan Church where she was a member and former district director of Wesleyan Women International and was co-founder of the Heaven Help the Home Ministry.
Surviving are her husband of over 38 years, Jerry C. Cantrell of the home a son, Jeffrey "J.B." Cantrell of Liberty; a daughter, Hope Cantrell of Greenville; brothers, Claude, Roy, Bobby, Johnny and Haskell Whitmire; sisters, Lucille Chastain, Glady Mae Nix, Yvonne Durham, Sue Farmer, Dianne Sanderson and Kathy Young; 2 grandchildren, Zachary and Kennedy Cantrell.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Donald Whitmire.
Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM, Tuesday at Glenwood Wesleyan Church with Revs. Steve Love, Harold Nicholson and Paul Wilcox officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM, Monday at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
The family is at the home.
Flowers will be accepted and memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
