Sylvia Lesley Owen, 97, of 204 Zion Church Road, wife of the late Walter Paul Owen, died Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at Rosemond Nursing Center.
Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late James Garfield and Myrtie Foster Lesley, Mrs. Owen retired from Lownes Corporation and was a member of Zion United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Memorial Sunday School Class and the U.M.W.
Surviving are a son, Walter Lesley Owen and his wife Martha, of Booneville, MS; three daughters, Paula Owen Baumann and her husband Garry of Atlanta, Norma Jean Thompson and husband, Jimmy, and Joyce O. Duncan and husband, Gary, all of Easley; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchilren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Owen was predeceased by 6 brothers, Ira, Tate, Daniel,Cyrus, James Garfield (JG) Jr., and Hugh Lesley and 2 sisters, Cora Hunter and Myraline Lesley. Mrs. Owen was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday at Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown. with Rev. Russell Elders officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 - 3:00 PM, Sunday. Burial will follow in the Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
