Terry English

Temple Jackson "Terry" English III, 64, of 412 Frontage Road, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at OMH Hospice of the Foothills in Seneca.
Born in Bryn Mawr, PA on October 15, 1943, a son of the late Temple Jackson English, Jr. and Elizabeth Warner English. He was a 1962 graduate of Burlington High School before serving in the Coast Guard from 1962 - 1966 as a Fire Control Technician on the USS Weather Cutter Rockaway 377. In 1972, he graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in Wildlife Science. After graduation, he worked for the Bureau of Land Management in Socorro, NM and Raton, NM. He worked as an agronomist for the USDA APHIS PPQ on the Witch Weed Program from 1973 - 1995. From 1995 - 2003 he worked on the Federal Noxius Weeds program to protect agriculture. In January 2003, he retired from the USDA. Following his retirement, he worked for a year at Walmart in Dillon and then from 2005 - 2006 he worked for Riverbanks Zoo as a night watchman. From 2006 - 2008, he worked as a Nursery Inspector for Clemson Department of Plant Industry. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Dillon.
Surviving are his wife, Diane Garrison English of the home; a son, Temple Jackson "Jay" English IV and wife Angie of Columbia; a daughter, Robin Wilmott and husband Derek of Clemson; two brothers, Richard W. English and wife Carol of Florence, Stephen A. English and wife Janet of Arkansas City, Kansas; two grandchildren, Robert Patrick Wilmott, Samantha Jordan Wilmott; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Terry had a great sense of humor and was a friend to everyone he met. He was a dedicated family man who loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was highly respected by his colleagues because of his knowledge and dedication to his work.
A memorial service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Main Street United Methodist Church in Dillon.
