Thalia Newton Elrod, 95, of 310 Church Street, wife of the late Murel "Mutt" Elrod, passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 peacefully at her home. Mrs. Elrod was born on December 18, 1914 in Pickens. She was the daughter of the late Rev Herbert "Hub" and Clara Rampey Newton.
Surviving are five children: George (Ruby) Elrod of Easley, John (Marilyn) Elrod, Carolyn Elrod Bailey, Patsy Elrod, and Juanita (Roger) Reid all of Pickens; a brother, Rev. Norman Newton of Pickens; ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Elrod was predeceased by a grandson, Ray Bailey, a sister, Nell Stephens, and a brother, Willis Newton.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home Downtown with the Rev. Roger Todd officiating. Burial will follow at Oolenoy Baptist Church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of John Elrod, 313 Our Road Pickens, SC.
