Thelma Louise Cooper Merritt, 84, of Powdersville, wife of the late J.R. Merritt, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015 at her home.
Born July 14, 1931 in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Groce Cooper and the late Verdie West Cooper. Mrs. Merritt was a homemaker who loved her family and was a member of Siloam Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Wendell Merritt (Dale), David Merritt (Dollie), Rickey Merritt (Georgia) and Jerry Merritt (Dawn); daughters, Carolyn Merritt and Sharon King; sister, Lou Bailey; grandchildren, Douglas Merritt, Monika Merritt, Dena Whitten, Jessica Merritt, Clay Merritt, Cody King, Chase Merritt, Jesse King, Daniel Merritt, and Kylee Heaton; great-grandchildren, Drake Sloan, Braeden Sloan, Adelyn Whitten and Cypress Merritt.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Carl Cooper and grandchildren, Sherri Merritt and Rodney Camp.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Siloam Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM Wednesday prior to the service at the church.
The family will be gathering at 714 James Rd., Easley.
