Thelma Freeman Smith, 83, formerly of 134 Hood Road, died Friday, May 22, 2009 at McCall Hospice House.

Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Wilton T. and Pauline Lesley Freeman. She was a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church and was a former employee of Sam's Club.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was predeceased by her husband, Clyde Edward Smith and two sisters.

Mrs. Smith is survived by a son, Stanley E. Smith (Rhonda) of Piedmont; five daughters, Brenda Coggins (Charles) of Easley, Patricia Turner of Townville, June Cater (Roger) of Piedmont, Pallie Satcher (Ron) of Rome, Georgia and Beverly Stephan (Jon) of Ft. Inn; four brothers; five sisters; twelve grandchildren; one step-grandchild; twenty two great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road, Easley. Burial will follow at Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley, SC 29642.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday.

The family is at the home of a daughter, Brenda Coggins, 1020 Shiloh Circle, Easley, SC 29642.

Memorials may be made to the American heart Association, 3535 Pelham Road, Greenville, SC 29615.

The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to the staff of Fresenius Medical Care for their loyal care of Mrs. Smith.
