Thomas Stanley Barrett, aged 74, passed away on February 8th, 2025.
Born and raised in Central South Carolina, Stan graduated from Daniel High School. After high school, he graduated with an associate’s degree from Tri-county Technical College. He began his career as a mechanic at Kelley's Gulf gas station in Central before joining Clemson University, where he worked as a mechanic in the Agriculture Engineering Department. Known for his meticulous "to-do" lists, Stan ensured every task was completed with care.
Stan cherished family vacations in Florida, always making new friends along the way. After 27 years of dedicated service, he retired from Clemson University. Following the loss of his first wife, Betty Barrett, after 33 years of marriage, Stan found love again with Monique Flot. They married in Pigeon Forge, TN, a place they both adored for its beautiful mountains. Stan and Monique loved to spend time together watching the Atlanta Braves and the NFL.
Stan was known for his playful spirit and willingness to help others, often volunteering his time to cut and deliver wood to neighbors or participate in the Six Mile PTO when his two daughters were in elementary school. His hobbies included gold panning, metal detecting, watching NASCAR, and admiring old cars. Stan's infectious smile brightened the lives of those around him.
In his later years, Stan enjoyed dining out with "The Old Goats Club", a group of close friends, often at Golden Corral. His frugality was endearing, wrapping Christmas gifts in newspaper comics and always having a coupon handy, especially for birthday specials at his favorite restaurants.
Stan's legacy of kindness, humor, and dedication will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Stan is survived by his wife Monique Barrett; his daughters, Shelley Powell (and husband Craig), and Niki Hagood; sister Harriet White (and husband Gary); Aunt, Betty Kelley; Grandchildren, Garrett Powell, Garner Powell, Grace Powell, Jadon Hagood, and Karlyn Hagood.
Stan is preceded in death by his first wife Betty Barrett; his parents H.B and Thelma Barrett.
A graveside service will be on February 14th, 2025 at 2PM, at Memory Gardens Cemetery of Clemson, SC.
