May 19, 1948 — April 13, 2026

Timothy "Tim" Donald Tierno, 77, of Greenville, husband of Elaine Tripp Tierno, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026. Born on May 19, 1948, in Greenville, SC, to the late Dominick Tierno and the late Evelyn Propes Tierno. He attended Living Sanctuary Church and was a man of many talents who lived a rich and vibrant life marked by creativity, dedication, and a deep love for both family and faith.

Tim was an architect and an experienced home builder whose skill and vision brought countless homes – and dreams – to life. His artistic talents extended beyond the drafting table; he possessed a remarkable gift with a paintbrush, creating eye-catching signage for various businesses that showcased his skills learned from his father. His creative spirit also found expression in music. A very talented musician, he could effortlessly play guitar, bass guitar, keyboard and trumpet. Alongside his artistic pursuits, Tim had a laid-back personality that endeared him to many, and he reveled in the freedom and adventure of riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle in his younger years.

Tim's entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly in the hospitality industry. He owned "The Shanty" restaurant in Georgia and locally, building not just a business but a community space for many to enjoy. Before that, he ran the Down-Home Deli restaurant, cementing his reputation as a dedicated and passionate restaurateur. His humor and lightheartedness were gifts he shared liberally, leaving smiles and cherished memories with all who knew him.

Beyond his career and hobbies, Tim was a devoted man of faith who loved Jesus deeply. His belief was a cornerstone of his life, offering comfort and guidance through all seasons. He served his country honorably, dedicating three years to the United States Army, a testament to his character and sense of duty.

In addition to his loving wife of 40 years, he is survived by daughters, Dawn McGaha (Chris) and Dana Kidwell (Donald); step-daughter, Sonya Lauer; step-sons, Tracy Greene (Lisa) and Daryl Greene (Kim); ten grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren; sister, Belinda Strickland (Keith); brothers, Philip Tierno, Gary Tierno and Kenny Tierno (Cindy); nieces, Candy Baker (Carl), Madison Canas (Gio) and Sarah Smith (Cody) and his furry companion, Weasel.
