Timothy "Tim" Steven Tollison

Timothy "Tim" Steven Tollison, 52, of Easley, South Carolina went to his heavenly home on Friday, December 22, 2023. He was born on April 1, 1971, in Easley, South Carolina, to Dr. Boyce G. Tollison and Judy Tollison.

Tim is survived by his wife Renée, and their daughters Sydney and Ashlyn. He is also survived by his mother, Judy, and brothers Michael and Brian Tollison. Tim is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Boyce G. Tollison.

Tim graduated from Easley High School in 1989 and Charleston Southern University in 1992 with a bachelor’s in political science. Following his academic career, Tim joined the Easley Police Department in January 1993. In 2002, Tim completed the 211th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Tim had a strong passion for helping others and immensely enjoyed going to work every day. He worked diligently to make a difference in the community and was a servant leader who served for over 27 years. Tim was appointed Chief of Police in 2015 until retiring from the City of Easley in 2020.

Connecting with the community was one of Tim’s top priorities during his service. While at the Easley Police Department, he organized the Citizens Police Academy where Easley residents would learn the inner workings of the police department and break down barriers between law enforcement and the community. Education was a passion of Tim’s. For many years he participated as a guest instructor in firearm safety and defensive driving at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.

He also had a desire to mentor and guide adolescents which inspired him to team up with the School District of Pickens County and Pickens County Chamber of Commerce to start Junior Leadership of Pickens County in 2013. Building relationships and exposing potential careers to our adolescents with the importance of purpose and integrity was very important to him.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the Cancer Center of Prisma Health, especially Dr. Jeffery Edenfield, for the excellent care provided since 2016.

His memorial service will take place at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Easley First Baptist Church, 300 East First Ave, Easley, SC 29640. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM at the church.

The family requests that all retired and current Pickens County Law Enforcement Officers serve as honorary pallbearers.
