Tommy Joe Day, 82, of Easley, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. He was born in Greenville, SC to the late Wofford and Myrtle Duncan Day. He was married for 57 years to Gloria Sisk Day, who passed away in July 2020. In addition to being a faithful and loving husband, he was a devoted family man who loved “his girls” and enjoyed being PaPa to his grandkids and great-grandkids.
He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church where he served as an usher and was part of the Seekers Sunday School class. Before he and his wife moved to Easley, they were members of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
He retired from Michelin Tire Corporation where he was a dedicated employee for thirty-one years. He worked at the US1 and Prime facilities. Prior to Michelin, he worked at Sonny’s Exxon.
He was a kind-hearted Christian man who made family a priority and created a loving home for his wife and daughters. He is remembered by many as a “sweet man” who always dressed nice and smelled good. In addition to spending time with his family, he loved classic cars, collecting die-cast models, going to the beach, watching NASCAR races on Sundays, and working in his yard.
He is survived by a brother Ricky Day; daughters Donna Day Rowland (Van) and Tonja Day Durham (Darrell); grandchildren William Chase Durham (Samantha), Casey Rowland Landreth (Bailey), and Alexis Nichole Durham; and great-grandkids Rylee, Baker, and Sutton Durham, and baby boy Landreth who is on the way. In addition, he is survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is predeceased by his brother James Day and sister Becky Day Wheeler.
The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm Sunday March 1, 2026 at Rock Springs Baptist Church with his funeral service to be followed at 2:00 pm. Burial will be held in Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
