Tommy Evatt - Easley, SC
Carl Thomas Major "Tommy" Evatt, 62, husband of Linda Bracken Evatt of 1487 Old Easley Highway, died suddenly, Friday, August 1, 2008.
Born in Oconee County, he was the son of Reba Lee Balchin Evatt of Easley, and the late Carl E. Evatt.
Tom was a 1964 graduate of Easley High School where he was a member of the 1962 State Championship Football Team and the 1963 Shrine Bowl Team. He also coached Little League Football for Crosswell Elementary School for many years touching many young lives.
He was employed with Pike Electric Company as a working supervisor. He was an active member of Rock Springs Baptist Church for 38 years; a former deacon, a Royal Ambassador Leader, a member of the welcoming committee, the pulpit committee and the Inspiration Bible Fellowship Class.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 43 years and his mother are: his aunts, Doris Hunt of Greenville and Ruby Tart of Conestee; and an uncle, Cecil Balchin of Oconee County. Tom was blessed with a very special extended family that he treasured.
Funeral services will be 2 PM, Sunday at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Reverend Drs. David Gallamore and Stuart Houston officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Honorary escort will be employees of Pike Electric and Duke Power.
The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown and will be placed in the church at 1 PM, Sunday prior to the service.
The family will receive friends at the home.
