Turney Henderson McDowell

Turney Henderson McDowell, of Bradenton, FL, died April 9, 2018 after a long battle with COPD.
Born in Fort Benning, GA, July 18, 1949, he was the son of thelate Samuel Tilden and Katharine Lake McDowell. Turney is survived by his sister May Crosland Cox (Frank) of Clemson, SC; daughter, Catherine McDowell Winebarger (Neal) of Boone, NC. He was preceded in death by his older brother Samuel Tilden McDowell, Jr. and stepmother Joella Wallace McDowell.
Turney spent many years in Clemson, graduated from Charleston Southern University and had a 20+year career with the US Army and related contractors supporting the Army at Fort Polk, LA and Fort Stewart, GA. He retired to Bradenton, FL in 2004, where he loved the FL weather and supported his AA friends through the AA program for the last 15 years. He is remembered for his love of the Clemson Tigers, especially the football team.
Memorial services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, May 3, 2018 in the Chapel at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central, SC
The family will greet friends immediately following the service.
