W. Ty Garren, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
The son of Ronnie Garren and the late Carolyn Myra Bishop Garren, Ty was an officer with Protection Services at the Duke Energy Oconee Nuclear Station.
Ty spent many years serving the community as a law enforcement officer, fireman and volunteer coach at the Pickens Recreation Department. He truly loved life and his family. He spent his days off with his children, helping coach them in their respective athletic pursuits, teaching them archery, and supporting them in all school activities. He loved his work and his work family. He enjoyed golf, camping and fishing. Over the years, many special fishing trips were spent in the company of his fishing buddy, Uncle Fred.
Ty will be remembered for his smile, his willingness to step in and volunteer, his generosity and his service to his community.
Ty is survived by his wife, Amanda Renee Garren of the home; his children, Brody, Kenzie, Banner, Patrick and Elizabeth; his sister, Alicia Posey and her husband Travis and their four children.
Visitation will be from 5:30 until 8:30 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Monday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
