Tyrus Samuel Land, 77, husband of Jane Irene Swaney Land, passed away Tuesday, March 3, in the year of our Lord 2020 at Regency Hospital in Greenville.
He was born in Oconee County, a son of the late Paul Vereen and Gurthie Long Land.
He was a loving husband, a dedicated father, and a proud grandfather (Papa). He was a master professional painter for Clemson University Facilities, where he worked until his retirement. In addition to this work, he had the remarkable mechanical aptitude to repair just about anything.
He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and gardening. He was a member of Fant's Grove Baptist Church, where he enjoyed worshiping and serving the Lord.
His life revolved around his family, his faith, and his work. He had a true servant's heart and was willing to help anyone in need.
Surviving in addition to his wife are sons Jeffrey Tyrus Land and Adam Land (Ashley), both of Pendleton, Christopher Lamar Land (Mary Elizabeth) of Abbeville, and Tyrus Samuel Land, Jr. (Michelle) of Anderson; daughter, Katy Land Rourk (Carl) of Huntsville, AL; brothers, Bob, Travis, and Terrel Land all of Seneca, sisters Jean Myers of Tampa, FL, Bonnie Brewer of Clemson, Rachel Hicks, Marian McClure, and Karen Coker, all of Seneca; grandchildren Emma and Henry Rourk, Zachary, Olivia, Mason, and Manse Land, and Hunter Land and Kaitlyn Rhodes.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Frank and sisters Zell Neal and Norma Price.
Funeral services will be 3 PM Friday, March 6, 2020 at Fant's Grove Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 PM, Thursday, March 5 at Duckett- Robinson Funeral Home & Cremations, Central-Clemson Commons.
