Valeria Maria Slamka of Owosso, age 88 died October 26, 2009.
Valeria was born august 13, 1921 in Florence, Italy to the late Mario and Lina Baldi. She had resided in the Swartz Creek, Owosso, Corunna and St. John areas for the last 50 years of her life. Valeria married Lawrence Kessinger in Florence, Italy in 1945. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1978. She married Steve Slamka in 1987 who also preceded her in death in 2001.
Valeria worked for Swartz Creek High School as a custodian for several years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, bowling, golf and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed ABWA and St. Joseph church ladies group in Owosso, MI.
Surviving are: children, Edward (Vannessa) Kessinger of Anderson, SC, Lina Douglas of Anderson, SC, Anna Lancuski (Barry) of Genesee, MI. and Townville, SC, Ron (Suzie) Kessinger of Bancroft, MI. Daughter-in law, Doris Kessinger; grandchildren Tammy Womack, Eddie (Amber) Kessinger, Michael (Karen) Kessinger, Eric (Kathy) Cupal, Brian (Jessica) Cupal, Trisha (Nathan) Hardy, Brittany Douglas, Bryce Douglas, great grandchildren; Sarah (Mark) Cantrell, Amanda Byrd, Ashley Byrd, Ezra Kessinger, Schuyler Kessinger, Sydney Cupal, Wesley Cupal, Jayda Cupal, and Madelyn Hardy;great great grandchildren, Gabriel Cantrell, Taylor Hudson; A niece; Daniella Fani and children Francesco, Danielle and Alesia who still reside in Italy.
A special acknowledgement to all the loved ones, friends and family, who were touched by Valeria's life.
Funeral services were 11am Friday, October 30 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anderson, SC with burial to follow in Anderson Memorial Gardens.
