Vanderlyn Sanders Rawl

April 20, 1919 — July 10, 2007

Frances Vanderlyn Sanders Rawl, 88, widow of James F. Rawl, Sr., died Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at the Seneca Health and Rahab Center in Seneca. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Moses and Frances Alma Wolfe Sanders. She was a graduate of Draughon's Business College and was a member of Killbourne Park Baptist Church. She was active in the church for many years as a member of the Friendship S.S. Class, the Joy Club, the W.M. Union, the Flower Committee and also the Nursery. She was also active in many civic activities such as the Carolina Children's Home, the Columbia Council of the Arts, the Forest Acres Bridge Club and the Columbia Women's Club. She worked as a personal secretary to Educational Director, Dr. Wil Lou Gray and also as an Administrative Assistant to the SC Insurance Commissioner.
She will be best remembered by her family and friends as a devout Christian with an unshakeable faith in God. Her legacy to her son and daughter is that of faith, her eternal hope and her incomparable love for God and men.

She is survived by her son, James Frank Rawl, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, her daughter, Betty Anne Rawl Lafforthun and husband Neil Frank of Clemson and grandchildren, James Frank Rawl, III, Elizabeth Rawl Hunt, Suzanne Lawrence and Todd Lawrence.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, July 15, at 2:00pm at the Greenlawn Memorial Park in Columbia, SC. Flowers accepted or in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Carolina Children's Home, Columbia, SC
