Velma Grace Lype Hunt

Velma Grace Lype Hunt, 91, passed into Heaven on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, December 24, 2025. She was the widow of the love of her life, Jack V. Hunt, Sr.

Born in Hendersonville, NC, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Cannie Hendricks Lype. She was the Salutatorian for her graduating class at Pelzer High School. She retired as Executive Secretary for the Harper Corporation. After retirement she worked for a short period as Clerk for the Town of West Pelzer.

She was a long-time member of the Pelzer Church of God and in her later years, attended Venture Church in Easley, SC. In her early years, she worked in the Pelzer Church of God Children's Department playing the piano for the children, serving in the nursery and children's department. She was a member of the church band, playing the accordion and later serving as the church organist.

Velma is survived by her children, Janice Edens (Steve) of Pickens, Joni Grant (Cecil) of Easley, and Jack Hunt, Jr. (Miranda) of Aledo, TX; grandchildren, Julie Weathers (Stonie), Jennifer Williams (Seth), Jacy Nichols (Corbin), and Jax and Jules Hunt; great-grandchildren, Colby Weathers (Mekenzie), Mayli Weathers, Gabe Weathers, and Caleb and Kennedy Williams; and one great-great-grandchild, Harrison Weathers. She treasured her family and they considered her "their queen."

In addition to her parents and loving husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Harold Smith of Hendersonville, NC and Woodrow Lype of Mableton GA; and a sister, Ellen Durham of West Pelzer, SC.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2025 at the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, Downtown. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson, SC.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2025 at the funeral home.
