Velma Bridges Owens, 98, formerly of Easley, and widow of Buren Hiott Owens, died, Sunday, October 8, 2006 at Laurel Hill Nursing Home.
Mrs. Owens was born in Pickens County, daughter of the late Wister Jones and Florence Elizabeth Harris Bridges. She was a retired employee of Alice Manufacturing, Elljean Plant and a member of Arial Baptist Church.
Surviving are: sons, Donnie Owens of Piedmont and Rudy Owens of Easley; daughter, Zelda Ellenburg of Easley; sister, Addis Waldrop of Easley; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sons and a daughter.
Services will be held at 3 PM, Monday, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with burial to follow in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The body is at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM, Monday, prior to the service.
The family is at their respective residents.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Arial Baptist Church, 618 Rice Road, Easley, SC 29640.
