Verenda Ragsdale Long, 86, formerly of Highway 81 North, wife of the late Marvin Wilton "Cotton" Long, passed away Monday, November 11, 2013 at McCall Hospice House.
Born February 16, 1927 in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Essie Orr Ragsdale. Mrs. Long was a homemaker, former Sunday School Teacher and longtime member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Vickie Kerr (Dan), Gerald Long ( Rhonda), Derrell Long (Glenda) and Chris Long (Kim); brother, Welton Ragsdale; sister, Roberta Looper; grandchildren, Shannon Gunnells, Traci Watts, Jennifer Morris, Justin Long, Harrison Long, Houston Long and Kiersten Long; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Eugene Ragsdale and sister, Thelma R. Williams.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 PM Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Mt. Airy Baptist Church with Dr. Keith Shorter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:15 PM Wednesday, prior to the service at the church.
The family is at 112 Omega Ln., Piedmont, SC.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Airy Baptist Church Building Fund, 210 Mt. Airy Church Rd., Easley, SC 29642.
