Vergie H. Westbrooks

Vergie Nell (Hix) Westbrooks, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family Wednesday, May 22, 2019. She was born in Oconee County October 20, 1935, a daughter of Robert "Dendy" and Lula Anna (Standridge) Hix.

Vergie married the love of her life, Harold Westbrooks and together spent 52 years together before he was called home in December 2003.

Vergie was a hairdresser for over forty years. She taught Sunday School for years both at Asbury Baptist Church and Pendleton Second Baptist Church. Later Vergie attended Centerville Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, cutting grass and any other outdoor work.

Vergie is survived by three sons, Harold Eugene Westbrooks, Jr. (Nancy) of Murrells Inlet, Robert T. Westbrooks (Elaine) of Anderson, and Keith Westbrooks of Anderson; three grandchildren, Tony, Nicole and Philip; four great grandchildren, Avery, Kyle, Leo, and Max; and two sisters, Ruth Rice and Mattie Saylors. In addition to her parents and her husband of 52 years, Vergie was predeceased by a grandson, David; five brothers, Neville, Joe, J. L., Andy, and Henry Hix; and two sisters, Mary Williams and Verleen Alexander.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, May 25 at the Reedy Fork Baptist Church, 115 E. Reedy Fork Rd, Seneca. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends 1:30 until 2:50 PM prior to the service.
