Vernon Edwards, 67, of Easley, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Hospital after succumbing to a long and courageous battle against cancer.

Born in Belmont, NC, he was a son of the late William Newton and Lillian Cato Edwards. In 1965 he enlisted in the US Navy serving with various air squadrons and was most proud of the 3000 flight hours he flew aboard the C9. After retiring from the Navy in 1986, he joined Lockheed Aircraft Corp as a field representive and later joined Lockheed-Martin in Greenville SC. He worked there for 19 years before retiring in 2005 on medical disability.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Katherine Nix Edwards; a son William Edwards (Terry); a daughter Christine Case and her fianc� Kelvin Douglas; two sisters-in-law, Nancy and Joanie Edwards; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Edwards was predeceased by three brothers, Kenneth, Harold and Donald Edwards.

No services are planned.
