Victoria Ballentine
Bradenton, Florida
This gorgeous, feisty, sassy, fashion icon, southern belle of the ball, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022 after a long and difficult battle with dementia.
Victoria Joanne Ballentine (Vickie to her friends and Grand to her family) had an awesome laugh, a talent for sewing (except for quilt binding), and shopping (especially at Talbots - her mothership)! Mom had a deep love for her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandson were her entire world. She adored her brother Bobby, his wife Sara, and their four children. John, Laura, Brad, and Katherine were like her children. She also loved her friends in the Easley High School Class of 1961.
Our family has fond memories of trips to the beach and her visits to our homes in Indiana and Florida! If my mother left the house, I guarantee you she matched and was the best dressed and most beautiful woman wherever she was. Her smile was giant, welcoming, and made her glow! If you knew my mother well, you probably know she had a saying for everything. Here are a few of our favs:
*He/She was running like a scalded dog.
*Your dog doesn't hunt.
*He had a duck dying fit.
*She flung a hissy fit.
*I bet you are busier than a bee in a tar bucket.
*My mother was tighter than Dick’s hatband, and so is my brother.
*Theresa, take that off … there are cuter things.
*I don’t know what’s wrong with him; he won't hit a lick at a snake.
*Who licked the red off your candy?
*Use your head for something besides a hat rack.
*You would feel better if you fixed yourself up and put on a little makeup.
*I’ll be there in two shakes of a rabbit’s tail.
*Don’t you tell that precious child no!
*Go Tigers!
*Well, bless your heart … .and that can have a lot of meanings.
We spent the day together on Thursday. Earlier in the day, she told me she had recently seen her mom and dad … I told her if they came back and invited her to go with them, she should go. I know she is in the presence of Jesus. I hope she found the family that went before her, especially her mom and dad, her cousin Becky and her pups Delilah and Roscoe! I am so relieved and delighted that my mother's mind is free and clear and her body is completely healed … Thursday was a great day for my mom! ❤
