Vincent Joseph Beckett

Vincent Joseph Beckett, 91, of Emeritus At Skylyn in Spartanburg, died Monday November 28, 2011 at Skylyn Health Center.
Joe was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Clara and Reverend Dr. Vincent D. Beckett. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in Alaska as part of the Aleutian Campaign, during W.W. II. After returning home he met and married Anna Louise Mathews of Marissa, IL on May 31,1946. Joe was a graduate of Monmouth College in Illinois and owned his own insurance brokerage in Philadelphia, PA. Joe and Louise also ran LMB Escorted Tours for a number of years before retiring to Lancaster, PA. He was an Elder and Sunday School Superintendent Jr. Dept. at Woodland United Presbyterian Church of North Ameria and also served on the Board of Pensions for the United Presbyerian Church of North America. He was a faithful servant to the Lord, his family and his country.
Joe is survived by his wife, Anna Louise Beckett; sons, Charles and Rodger; daughter, Ruth; grandchildren, Dr. April Clark, Natalie Beckett, Mallory Beckett, Sarah Schmiechen, Ridgley Beckett, Cindy Sager, Samantha Sager and Scott Sager; great-grandson, Jacob Schmiechen ; a sister, Louise Mary Beckett.
Memorial services were held in the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, SC on Tuesday November 29, 2011 with the Reverend Laura Palmer officiating.
