Violet Elaine Cohoon Richwine, 94, of Anderson, South Carolina, died peacefully at her home on Sunday morning, October 27, 2013.
Born January 6, 1919 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Violet was the daughter of Edward Joseph and Bessie Johnson Cohoon and was the youngest of four children: Clarence, Hazel and Elizabeth, all of whom pre-deceased her. She was happily married to David W. Richwine for 69 years until his death in March of 2011.

She enjoyed life ?all of it, including raising her four children, reading, painting, gardening, yoga, cooking, entertaining, traveling, tennis and ballroom dancing. She was an accomplished seamstress and also enjoyed knitting and needlepoint. She and her husband Dave, loved ballroom dancing so much that they founded the Foothills Dance Society shortly after moving to Seneca, SC. In her youth, Violet was a champion Moth Boat sailor and competed on the East Coast. She was also the winner of several beauty contests and once wore the crown as Miss Virginia Beach.

She leaves two sons and two daughters: Major Gen. David A. Richwine, USMC (Retired) of Washington, DC, Michael W. Richwine of Merriam, KS, Patricia (Isa) Herold and Karen Donaldson of Anderson, SC; three granddaughters, Heather Richwine of Arlington, VA, Carrie Richwine of Kansas City, MO and Chloe' Donaldson of Aberdeen, NC, and a great-granddaughter, Ivy Elizabeth Peralta of Aberdeen, NC. She also leaves a nephew, Hunter Morris of Elizabeth City, NC and niece, Gail Blevins, of Baltimore, MD.
Violet Elaine Cohoon Richwine was a gentle person and the epitome of grace and selflessness. She was a loving wife and caring mother, concerned citizen and a gracious hostess. A beautiful person inside and out, she touched many and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held for her at Fort Hill Presbyterian Church in Clemson Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 2:00 P.M.
