Virgil M. Merck

Virgil Milton Merck, 84, of 435 Browning Road and husband of Frances Maw Merck, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at his home.
Born in Six Mile, he was a son of the late Paul and Theo Holliday Merck. Virgil was a retired employee with Gerish Milliken in Pendleton and was an active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church having been a member of the choir, a sunday school teacher and former deacon. He loved his family, his church, was a avid fisherman and farmer.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Richard M. (Sara) Merck of Central; daughter Patsy (Doug) Shuman of Central; brother, Joe Merck of Travelers Rest; sister, Rosalie LeRoy of Central; 7 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Denver Merck; and sisters, Lois Youngblood, Avanelle Pilgrim, Eunice Maw and Christine LeRoy.
Funeral services will be 11 AM, Friday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Thursday at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.
