VIRGIL A. MITCHELL - Central

Virgil Allen Mitchell died at his home Oct. 21, 2006. He was born
April 21, 1914 in Six Mile to Elbert Allen and Annie Mozell Davis
Mitchell. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Luck Parks
Mitchell; daughters: Marilyn Hollingsworth and Martha Funnell of
Michigan; grandsons: Alton Allen (Annette) Hollingsworth and Adrian
Allen Funnell; brothers: Joseph Carlton Mitchell of Oklahoma and
Charles (Catherine) Mitchell of Simpsonville and sisters Edna Mitchell and Mary Ellen
(Elvin) Kelley of Simpsonville, and many nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by his parents, his son Allen, brother Franklin
Eugene and sister Vera Mitchell Peek.

Dr. Mitchell was a Wesleyan pastor and District Superintendent in
South Carolina and held many offices in the denomination, including
General Superintendent. He remained active in the church and his alma
mater, Southern Wesleyan University, and in his community of Six Mile.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 23 from 2- 4 pm and 7- 9 pm at
Duckett- Robinson Funeral Home in Central. Funeral services will be
held Tuesday, October 24 at 2 pm at the First Wesleyan Church of
Central. Burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Pickens. The
family requests memorials be given to Hephzibah Children's Home, 6601
Zebulon Road, Macon, GA 31220 or Southern Wesleyan University,
Central, SC. Online condolences may be expressed at www.robinsonfuneralhomes.com or in person at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central-Clemson Commons, which is assisting the family with arrangements.
