Virgil Eugene Teat, age 86, passed away on July 26, 2010. Born in Central, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Thomas Watson and Ida Bell Teat.
Virgil was a graduate of Central High School. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Navy on the Destroyer Escort USS Greenwood in the Pacific theater from 1943-1946. He worked for many years at Central Hardware Store and Ole Norm's Building Supply, Hardware & Sporting Goods, Inc. Virgil was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and active for many years in the Central Lion's Club.
As a life-long hardware salesman, a friend once said of him, "Teat could sell ice to an Eskimo." He was a hard-worker and never hesitated to help someone in need. No matter where he went, he never met a stranger. Virgil loved the Lord and his family with everything he had.
