Virginia Hagood Bruce Allen, 90, formerly of 227 Camille Avenue, died Sunday, April 29, 2007, at Homewood Residence.
Born in Pickens, Mrs. Allen was a daughter of the late James Hagood and May Starke Grogan Bruce. She graduated from Ashley Hall and attended Coker College and Converse College. Mrs. Allen was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church where she belonged to the Good Neighbor Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Allen was a Past Vice President of the Junior League and a charter member and Past President of the Greenville Debutante Club. An avid golfer, Mrs. Allen made two holes-in-one at Greenville Country Club. She spent many happy summers at the family mountain home at Caesars Head.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Richard Hagood Allen and Brenda Jo Leach Allen of Greenville; one daughter Kathleen Bruce Allen Blase of Ft. Myers, Florida; three grandchildren, James Hagood Blase, Patricia Bruce Blase Beringer, and Andrew Pierre Allen. Mrs. Allen was predeceased by her husband, Richard Loudon Allen; and a brother, James McDuffie Bruce II.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown Easley with the Reverend Dr. Randolph Kowalski officiating. Burial will follow in the Hagood Family Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 200 W. Washington Street, Greenville, S.C. 29601 or Meals on Wheels, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, S.C. 29605.
The family is at the home of the son.
