“Greer”
Virginia Brown Greer, 86, of Easley, South Carolina, wife of the late Dorsey Edward Greer, Sr, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at The Foothills Retirement Community surrounded by family.
Born in Easley, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late John Robinson Brown and Sara Leona Winchester. Virginia was the life of the party wherever she went. She loved family trips to the beach and going “scooter pooping” with her grandchildren. She was an avid Clemson fan and loved nothing more than supporting Clemson in all sports when she had the chance. Many football Saturdays were spent tailgating at their van with family, friends, and anyone else who stopped by. Her greatest love was her family. Spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her her greatest joy. Virginia was a lifelong Wesleyan, having membership at Easley First Wesleyan Church for the majority of her life, and later at Pickens View Wesleyan Church. She was a 1955 graduate of Easley High School where she lettered in basketball. In 1958, she graduated from the Greenville General Hospital School of Nursing. She began her 41-year career as a Registered Nurse at Easley Baptist Hospital as a Labor and Delivery nurse. She retired from Baptist Medical Center Easley as the Nurse Manager in 1999 which allowed her to stay home and keep her grandchildren. Virginia made many dear friends in her years at Easley, and most became like family.
She is survived by her children, Eddie Greer (Pam), Katrena Greer Wilkie, and Alex Greer (Christy); her grandchildren, Charlie Greer (Maggie), Jake Greer (Tori), Hadley Greer, Greer Wilkie, and Lexi Greer; her great-grandsons, William Greer, Toby Greer, Benji Greer, and Sam Greer; her sister Dr. Marcella Southerland of Anderson; her sister-in-law, Judy Brown; and numerous and greatly loved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jane Greer; her sisters, Geraldine Brown Lesley (Junior) and Amelia Brown McCall (Amos); and her brothers, John Robinson Brown (Ruby) and Wayne Perry Brown.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 3:30 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow at the Robinson Memorial Gardens Glen Vista Mausoleum.
For those who feel comfortable, feel free to wear your favorite Clemson attire. Nothing would make her happier.
