Virginia Abbott Jackson Stanley, 96, passed away on September 10, 2011, at 150 Downs Boulevard, Clemson, SC.
She was born in Clemson, SC, daughter of the late Major A. and Ola Grubbs Abbott, and was a graduate of Calhoun-Clemson High School.
Mrs. Stanley was a retired secretary of the Mathematics Department, Clemson University, and a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. She was a member of the John C Calhoun Chapter of the DAR. She travelled extensively, and visited all seven continents, some often, and she enjoyed corresponding with many friends she met overseas.
She is survived by her two children, Beverley J Ward of Virginia Beach, VA, and Tracy H Jackson, Clarksville, TN, and stepson John David Stanley of Washington State, three grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several step-great-grandchildren
She was the widow of Major T. H. Jackson, killed in WWII, and Edward L. Stanley, retired Professor at Clemson University.
A memorial service is planned for the near future. In lieu of flowers, please send a memorial to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 193 Old Greenville Highway, Clemson, SC 29631-1335.
