Vivian Ruth James Anders, 70, passed away peacefully March 11, 2026, surrounded by family.

Born in Hammond, Louisiana on May 31,1955, she was the oldest child of the late Keever and Edith Saucier James.

Vivian received her BA in Early Childhood and Elementary Education in 1978 from Southeastern University in Hammond, Louisiana. She was also a graduate of Clemson University where she earned her Master’s Degree in Education in 1990. She taught in numerous elementary schools in Louisiana and South Carolina throughout her forty years of teaching service, most notably at Concrete Primary/Elementary in Powdersville. Vivian’s love of reading and science was an influential force on the lives of young children in the Powdersville community. Her love and generosity spread through every facet of her life, and she was always the first for any adventure and “field trip”. Her fondest adventure included her travels to Israel, which she had always longed to see where Christ had walked.

Vivian was a dedicated member of Grace Church Powdersville, where she warmly welcomed everyone each week with hot coffee and warm hugs. She was also an avid quilter, gifting her creations to her family and friends and to the Front Porch Housing Project.

Vivian is survived by her children: Amy Anders Stone and her husband Chris; Lance James Anders and his wife Danielle; Lindsay Anders Fournier and her husband Matt; Skip Ryan Anders and his wife Jennifer. She was so blessed to have eleven “precious perfect” grandchildren: Ruthie, Jameson, Margaret, Eben, Liam, Scarlett, Keever, Gray, Isaac, Joshua, and Micah. She is also survived by her sister, Cheryl James, her brother, Keever James, Jr and his wife Liz, her sister, Betty Joy James Boshears and her husband Mark, her brother Michael James, Sr and his wife Colleen, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews whom she all adored greatly.

Vivian James Anders lived a life full of love and kindness. She will be greatly missed, but her family and friends hold with confidence that she will always be with the Lord. Her hope in life and in death was Christ alone.
