Jimmye James

Mrs. Vivian "Jimmye" Porter James, 86, wife of William Thomas James, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017.
Born in Greenville County, a daughter of the late Waymon Hoyet and Pearl Lanning Porter, Mrs. James grew up in Greenville and Spartanburg and graduated from Welcome High School where she met her husband in their senior year. She worked for Liberty Life Insurance for several years and the U.S. Government for many years as a Budget Analyst where she retired in August of 1989.
Surviving, in addition to her husband to whom she celebrated sixty-seven years of marriage on February 18, 2016, are a son, Rev. Ted Alan James and his wife Sharon Darley James of King George, VA; a sister, Brenda Porter Gartman of Casa Grande, AZ; and two granddaughters, Katherine Marie James and Margaret Elizabeth James. In addition to her parents, Mrs. James was predeceased by two brothers, Waymon Douglas Porter and Thomas Reginald Porter.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, January 23, 2017 at Easley First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. John Adams and Rev. Ted James officiating. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
