Col. Wade H. Padgett, Jr.

Colonel Wade Hampton Padgett, Jr. USArmy, Ret., of 1004 Keystone Lane and loving husband of his first love Lucy McArthur Padgett passed peacefully on September 1, 2010.
Born in Columbia, SC, Col. Padgett was a son of the late Wade Hampton and Gertrude Miscally Padgett. He was a 1942 graduate of Clemson University where he played football and was the team captain for his senior year. Following graduation Col. Padgett began his 28 year military career in the Army Corps of Engineers and proudly served during both WWII and the Korean War.
Surviving are his son, Wade Hampton Padgett, III and wife, Virginia of Columbia, SC; daughters, Leslie Padgett Gardner and husband, Dr. Stephen Ray Gardner of Greenville, SC and Lucy Padgett Palanza and husband, Albert Peter Palanza of Anderson, SC; eight grandchildren, Cullen McArthur Padgett, Wade Hampton Padgett IV, Christopher Galen Gardner, Jonathan Parks Gardner, Ansley Ennis Gardner (Dec.), Melissa Kitchings Blackwell, Carrie Marie Bryant, Joseph Craig Kitchings, Jr; 8 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his beloved wife, granddaughter and parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Gertude Padgett Onley and Susan Padgett Hunnicutt.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM, Sunday in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central-Clemson Commons with Reverend Drs. Charles Dougherty and Nancy Morris officiating.
Burial with full military rites will be held in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 1:15 til 2:15, Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.
