Wallace Elmer Smith, “Tadpole”, 86, passed away peacefully with his family by his side Sunday July 24, 2022. He was born August 26, 1935, in Six Mile, the son of Elmer and Selma Holladay Smith.
Wallace was a machine operator in the textile industry, but he enjoyed gardening. He was passionate about baseball. He coached for many years in Six Mile, and he loved watching the Atlanta Braves as well as Clemson baseball … but nothing was more loved than spending time with his family.
Wallace is survived by his wife of 68 years, Emily; three children, Wally Joe Smith (Suzanne), Doris Elrod (Danny), and Steve Smith all of Six Mile; four grandchildren, Becky Durham (Tommy), Jennifer Gallbreath, Brittany Smith (Amos), and Jacob Smith; ten great-grandchildren, Michael Durham, Allison Whiten (Andy), Cody Bolick, Callie Mauldin (Carson), Andre Bergeron, Abbey Ridley (Petey), Hailey Bergeron, Tyler Bolick, Jayden Parker, and Jaxon Parker; five great great-grandchildren, Gracie Seigle, Tristan Durham, Emmarie Whiten, Haden Bergeron, and Liam Bryant; a sister, Jeanette Thomas; and two brothers, Bryan Smith and Carlos Smith (Judy).
In addition to his parents Wallace was predeceased by a great grandson, Haiden Parker; four sisters, Mable Moss, Marie Porter, Eloise Pitts, and Willimenia Allsep; and a brother, Howard Smith.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, July 29th at Mt. Zion Cemetery, West Main St., Central. The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM prior to the graveside service at the Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, 108 Cross creek Road, Central.
The family will be at the home of Doris and Danny Elrod, 190 Knollview Road in Six Mile.
Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
