Obituary

Wallace Maddox Whitlock, 86, husband of Patsy Birt, of Easley, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Robert Ervin Whitlock and the late Sarah Lou Gertrude Garrick Whitlock.

Mr. Whitlock proudly served in the United States Navy for six years, including service during the Vietnam War and later retired from 3M Company after many years of dedicated service.

He loved spending time at the beach, dancing, and cheering on college football - especially the Clemson Tigers. He was also a former Mason.

In addition to his wife of 5 years, Mr. Whitlock is survived by sons, Michael Whitlock (Cyndi) of Easley and Mark Whitlock (Barbara) of Richmond, VA; daughters, Tammy Hadsell (Chris) of Mechanicsville, VA and Shelba Jean Dunnavant of Powhatan, VA; a sister, Sharon Owen (Thomas) of Easley; grandchildren, Amanda Layne, Lauren Layne, Christian Lisfey, Crystal Dunnavant, Christopher Whitlock, April Whitlock, Christina Whitlock, Jeremiah Whitlock (Abrea), Nehemiah Whitlock, Samuel Whitlock, Daniel Whitlock, Sarah Whitlock, Jonathan Whitlock, Zachariah Whitlock, and Valerie Whitaker (Bradley); great-grandchildren, Jaydon Whitlock, Annya Whitlock, Watson Woolard, Hayley Cobb (Ross), and Brandon Baldwin (Karah); and a great-great-grandchild, Charlotte Cobb.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 34 years, Maggie Louise Kerr Whitlock.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2026 at Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery, Liberty.
