Walter Giles Brookshire III, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 29, 2026.

Born on September 14, 1955, he was a son of the late Walter Giles Brookshire II and Mae Huggins Brookshire.

Walter was a jack of all trades, having worked many jobs throughout his life. However, he was particularly passionate about his work in carpentry, where he created beautiful cabinets that were purchased all over the world.

Walter was extremely generous, he was deeply involved in his mission work, contributing his time and skills to various communities. His missions took him to places such as Mexico, Kentucky, and Tennessee. His dedication to service reflected his caring nature, as he was always eager to assist those in need.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Walter cherished spending time with his family. He had a deep love for travel, often enjoying adventures that included camping and fishing. One of his fondest pastimes was horseback riding with his loved ones. He loved making people laugh, and always had a good time. He also loved gospel music, always having the gospel channel on his radio.

Walter is survived by his wife Doris Crane Wilson; his beloved daughters Stephanie Milhoan (Adam) of Liberty, Jessica Brookshire (Allen Medlock) Pickens, Ashley Carr (Martin Gonzalez) of Easley, and Amanda Greeno (Leslie) of Pickens; grandchildren, Kayla Manley (Max), Dawson Milhoan, Tyler Brougham (Randi), Alex Brougham (Rose), Caitlyn Landrie (Stephen), Samuel Wakefield (Carson), Ava Medlock, Gracie Medlock, Kason Medlock, Izabella Zahran (Muha), Gabriella Carr(Christian), Abigail Carr (Noah), Katarina Gonzalez, Gavin Greeno, Aubrey Greeno, Nathaniel Greeno, and Arianna Greeno; his great-grandchildren Kaiden Brookshire, Maxx Manley, Jaxon Manley, Nicholas Zahran, Nasser Zahran, and Blakelyn Place; his brothers William Brookshire of Easley, and Thomas Brookshire of Alabama, his sisters Julie King of Powdersville, and Margaret Frazier of Greenville; as well as his best friend and honorary brother Jimmy Gilstrap.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Ava Lee Manley Brookshire; his brother Randall Scott Brookshire; and his sister Debora A. Jenkins.

Family and friends will gather to honor Walter’s memory during a visitation at Duckett - Robinson Funeral Home, located at 108 Cross Creek Road, Central, SC 29630, on February 4, 2026, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

A funeral service will take place the following day, Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Six Mile Church of God of Prophecy,  at 133 Furman L Smith Memorial Hwy, Central, SC 29630, starting at 2:00 PM.

Walter Giles Brookshire III will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, humor, and unwavering support for others will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
