Walter "Red" Campbell, Sr.

Walter Reid "Red" Campbell, Sr., 76, of Tryon Street, died Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at Allen Bennett Hospital.
Born in Greenville County, a son of the late Maddison Walker and Sarah Jane Ward Campbell, Mr. Campbell retired as a driver with Shedd's Country Crock of Greenville, and was a member of Calvery Hill Baptist Church in Lyman where he belonged to the Adult Sunday School Class. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Hammond Campbell of the home; two sons, Steve Campbell of Piedmont and Walter R. Campbell Jr., of Williamston; a daughter, Angie Ross and husband, Andy, of Greenville; three sisters, Georgia Lee Huff and husband, Johnny, Mary Frances Tate and Ruby C. Bowen, all of Easley; thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Calvery Hill Baptist Church in Lyman with Rev. Tim Wofford officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, Easley, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday and will be placed in the church at noon Friday.
